Perception is Not Always Reality

That One Girl: On a scale of 1-10, 10 being you're absolutely sure you want to marry me and spend the rest of your life with me (as you've stated in the past), where do you fall?

Him: 8

That One Girl: Huh?

Him: Huh?

That One Girl: Did you say 8?

Him: Yeah.

That One Girl: Oh.

Him: What? Is that bad?

That One Girl: It's your answer.

That One Girl promptly moves "ring with diamonds" given last Christmas to right hand and closes Kleinfeld.com website.

Thinks to self "time to readjust thinking because apparently I have forgotten, nothing is quite as it seems"

FIRST THOUGHT:

for real.. he said. 8.

If he said 4.. or 5. I'd be all like... PACK YOUR LOUIS V.

THAT'S DECENT for today's standards

. Perhaps he's being a cautious do gooder ... and thinking before he acts .. - why he's THINKING now?? who knows.. a little bass ackwards if you ask me.. but HEY... who am i.

i think 8 gives room to grow on.

then the other side of me is all like

FUCKING HOLD THE BUS
bitch said WHAT????

OH WAIT.. NOW THERE'S A THIRD opinion from me..

he sounds honest.
honest is hard to come by
even if honest isn't what WE wanted to hear.

for real.

you set his shit up.
lmao

YOU SO SET HIM UP.

he could only win one way: 10 or higher.

wow....are you sure that's what you want to do? I mean I have days when on a scale of one to ten my desire to be married to my husband is around a three.....but that's only on occasion, and we all have bad days...it's been 26 years for us, and I wouldn't change it. Don't act too hasitly.

ok.. but if he tells you that YOU"RE THE ONE all the time.

then we have issues houston. no pun. :)

things will be clearer in the morning;

they have to be.. you is talkin to me right now!!

lol

eve is right too.. she's a sweetie.
i hate my husband 5/7 days.. so um.. i think if i were scaled.. a 10 would not be honest..

i believe u both are right....perhaps it's too fresh of a wound to the psyche and ego to be ok about it right now....

also, if i must admit it and be COMPLETELY honest....my knowledge of a working marriage extends as far as The Cosby Show.

Funny. Yes, I know. But Cliff and Claire are my closest references to what a marriage is, or should be. But apparently that's not realistic.

(DUH! It's TV ya moron!!!!)

But that is my only point of reference....marriages in my family are either non-existent or don't last (hence, I'm already divorced)....

so perhaps I have a screwed up perception of "realistic" when it comes to relationships and marriage...I know there's rough times and sometimes you want to claw eachothers eyes out...but at the end of the day - it's still that other person you'd rather be fighting with - without a doubt...right?

Did I just make any sense?

At all?

Hmm. I want to comment but I figure I'll just cut out the middle man and cut to the chase.

Would anyone like to string me up and lynch me on behalf of men everywhere?

First, guys are stupid. They just are and it can't be helped. So we have to allow room for error.

And I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought marriage would be like the Cosby show. What a disappointment!

When men are asked to rate anything from 1-10 they never say 10! HE thought that 8 was a good answer which means he thought it was the RIGHT answer???

Maybe you need to try and get him to set a date....that will test him!

I so totally agree with you. Reality always lies hidden behind perceptions.
